Today’s Masterclass at the Lobero Theater (Santa Barbara) went really well. I was so glad that I was able to sing at my best today, inspite of previous days’ acid reflux situation. Basically, Ms. (Marilyn) Horne mainly stressed the points in my aria that needed some more “forward” or “frontal” resonance, as well as keeping the space inside the mouth open. She also dealt with the “hetty” or “falsetto-ey” mix (voix mixte) in some areas where the aria needed them.
Mona, Jamie (Chamberlin) and Evan (Hughes) were also there to watch the Masterclass. After the event, Mona and I ate at Ristorante Aldo, where we we’re both disappointed at the food, except for the crème brulée, which we thought was so good.
Mona dropped me off at Cate School. I planned on watching “Rules of Attraction” at the Rec-Center, but the circuit-breaker went off, so the tape was stuck. I hung out with some of my colleagues outside the Rec-Center for a while.
Contempletion of the day: I thank God for helping me today during my performance.
