Only one coaching today with Churchwell. So far, my voice has been consistently stable this week. Warmed up very well and properly in the morning, and was very much warmed up, as well, after lunch. After running “Adelaide” with John (Churchwell), and making necessary tempo changes, both of us looked for a French slow tempo song for the Marilyn Horne Foundation Competition. We decided to go with “Les Roses d’Ispahan”.
Today’s Masterclass at Abravanel was conducted by Heinz Blankenburg and Randall Behr. They went through the musical and staging process of “Marriage of Figaro”, performed by the covers.
Later in the evening, I went to see a “Tuesdays at Eight” faculty performance at the Lobero Theater. Warren Jones collaborated with a flutist and a violist. Meaghan Letham (mezzo-soprano) also sang a Krum piece with vibraphone and bass.
That’s about it for today.
